News from the Cayman Islands Koi Club.

We have two announcements.

The 2008 CaymanIsland Koi Club pins have arrived! And we are sending a donation of total sales so far to the AKCA KHV research project.

For those of you who have pre-paid for 2008 pins, the new 2008 pins will be sent to you this week. If you have been waiting to order a 2008 Cayman Islands Koi Club pin, you may place your order, today!

The same offer as was made for the sale of the 2007 pins applies to people who purchase the 2008 pin. Your purchase price of $10.00 for each pin will be donated 100% to KHV research.

We’ve now sold over 200 Cayman Island Koi Club pins.

Our 200+ pin fund raising efforts makes possible the Cayman Islands Koi Club’s first donation in the amount of $2,000.00.

And, of course, we hope that with the sale of the 2008 pins we can soon make another donation of an even greater amount.

We would like to acknowledge the people who are responsible for this donation. Yes, Lee Aronfeld made the offer, but it has been the koi hobbyists who purchased the Cayman Island Koi Club pins that has made it possible. Therefore, it is in their name we are making this donation.

Lee announced his fund raising efforts at the Chicago Koi Show last year. Many pins were sold at that event, and many more pins were also sold at the MAKC show and at Ray Abell’s pond pull last November. However, I didn’t know the majority of the people who walked up to me or Lee to purchase pins at these events by paying in cash. I do have the names of all the people who read about the pin offer on koi forums and who mailed checks to me to purchase pins.

Here is a list of people I have a record of purchasing Cayman Islands Koi Club pins and includes several people who purchased pins at koi shows that I can remember. Many on this list bought more than one pin and some have paid in advance for the 2008 pin. It is an incomplete list. I apologize to those who bought pins at koi shows or at Ray Abell’s fall harvest or directly from Lee whose names I do not have. However, if you bought a pin your purchase price is included in the donation being sent to AKCA.
