I forgot the other mixes of this fish....magoi, benigoi....It is from the Old Matsunosuke bloodline, from the days of Grandad Gosuke(sp?)....
....A little more history on the fish.
Tokonami Himitsu first developed the Doitsu Gin Rin Kigoi in 1897 during the potato uprising in the town of Himitsu(which during that time alot of Japanese took on the town name as their last name). The area known as Himitsu was famous for the huge potatos that were farmed there, they were as heavy as 15kg for one potato. Anyways, Tokonami got interested in koi when he noticed a white and yellow carp swimming in the river by his house. So Tokonami, caught the fish and placed it in his ox's watering hole. One of Tokonami's friends told him if he wanted to learn more about koi he should travel to the town of Mirugamu. Tokonami travelled 5 days to Mirugamu, there he found a gentleman who went by the name of the Gza who had a rice paddy full of carp the same colored as the one Tokonami caught in the river by his house. Gza told Tokonami that since he travelled so far he was willing to give him 3 from his collection if he got 5 of the biggest potatos from Tokonami's harvest that fall. The rest is history folks....
