| Eye injury working around the pond..Dammit!! This just happened yesterday..so, I'm still recovering. I was raking out some dead plants and weeds behind my pond. My wife called me to come in and help with the baby. I went inside, and leaned over the baby to kiss her. Suddenly..I felt something stab me in the eye. Painful as h-ll, to say the least. I ran to the bathroom and flushed the eye with baby shampoo and water. It was no better. I took antihistamines in case it was an allergic reaction to the weeds..but it did nothing. Stayed home from work today and went to the opthamologist. He numbed the eye with anasthesia..and flushed it...and searched. Well, he thought it was out..whatever it was. My wife started to drive me home. Halfway home the anasthesia wears off and the pain is even worse than before...excruciating. We turn around and head back. They take me right in a search in my eye some more, with no anasthesia this time. Well, under my upper eye lid was a small thorn or splinter of some sort. It was sticking out and poking my eye each time I blinked or moved my eye. It has scratched the surface of my eye..but it should heal within 24hrs. They removed the thorn and had another doctor come in to check for more. I was sent home after. I took a nap. I woke up and rubbed my eye....and another thorn/splinter was in my hand. So, thats 2...and I think it's all of them. I didn't mention I am blind in the other eye from an accident when I was a child. So, I was a little too close to needing a dog other than the two I already have!!! All feels well now...just need to use antibiotic drops for a day. But...Please...when you do your outside work...please wear protective eyewear!!!! I have definitely learned my lesson the hard way!!!
