I've really been searching for a few foods this winter that I can keep as a staple and one that I can add as a suppliment. I like and have offered Hi Silk with sweet potato for a few years now and really like it. Protein levels are not high, but it still offers the Silk powder in the formula. Not much waste either even though the pellets are large. This winter I've tried OSI, Microlift, and blackwater max and gold. Most recently the Blackwater. I've only been feeding it for a little over a month so what may happen with the whites, I'm still not sure. So far so good. What I did notice is that there is little waste in the holding tanks. The ingrediant list is acceptible. If this food doesn't pull the whites down I think I'll stick with it over the summer to see if I can get some good growth and body. The Hi Silk will remain a good portion of what I offer. I may add back the Microlift fruits and veggies as a suppliment once the fish are back outside and the filtration is better along with bigger water. There are so many good feeds out there. I think we each need to find one that fits into our budgets and gives us the health we are looking for as well. For me a good indication of good heatlh is how good the whites look and decent growth....not fast growth, but growth that doesn't stretch the colors or push the natural progression of the fish. To me slower is better.
