I received my grow out fish yesterday. They were in very good condition.
#38 -#1, pick overall was 9.75" and looked very impressive. the picture I took don't do it justice. The beni was thick and the motoguro was very tight on both sides. I'm hoping the sumi will develop slow and strong but I'm not really sure what to expect. I remember a very wise man saying choose tosai by the strength of the beni and hope for the rest. That was the reasoning behind selecting this fish... besides it 's conformation and size.
#7 - 31st pick overall came in at 8". I think I'd like to have this pick over. I'm not sure what I was thinking except I thought it was bigger than it turned out to be. Oh well, it'll be interesting to see them grow together.
In addition to these picks I selected two others to grow out and while they not in the contest, they all are very different and should provide for an interesting learning experience.
