Since you're skipping down memory lane here's one for you... In the mid 1960s, when I started my first pond and purchased my first koi, I visited a koi farm complete with mud ponds on the edge of Kaneohe Bay run by an old Japanese Gentleman who imported koi from Japan as his brood stock...While he bred and raised the Gosanke's I remember he had some killer clean Hi Utsuris, no specks, no broken patterns...

Well two weeks ago, at the seminar, I was having lunch with some friends and a young lady we had just met...I was telling my friends about this farm, when the young gal introduced herself as the grand daughter of the koi breeder...Talk about a small world...Unfortunately, a big developer bought the land, filled in the ponds and built a bunch of houses...

I also met your Mr. Bob Finnegan at the seminar, just before he kicked me out of the AKCA...Actually what he said was that "my kind", was not wanted or appreciated in the AKCA...All because I said I didn't want to show koi...Thank goodness, other judges said his remarks were BS...

Aloha! Mike
