Checked on the progress of the Yamabuki today. (I'm starting to think of her as 'Yamabukichi' because of this thread.) I had a hard time getting her to hold still. I measured at 30.5 inches, 31 inches and a bit over 31 inches. Take your choice! I settled on 31". (BTW, the lower lobe of the caudal fin is longer than the upper lobe, so the length is most if the lower lobe is used, but since it is more difficult to observe, measuring becomes a bit of guessing when a fish just won't hold still.)

You'll notice the difference in coloration of the scales compared to the skin between. The body looks good when viewed from above. The tummy issue is pronounced when viewed from the side. The round 'apple' head is now more definite. Yellow pigment is coming together very slowly. She may remain more cream-colored. We'll see. Despite the shortcomings, she is beautiful in the pond.
