JR: I've noticed the koi seeking specific pellets, but wasn't sure if it was my imagination. No time for making up foods, so I only feed pellets (and occasional treats). As seasons change, the pellet mix changes. New types are added. Began last month adding Nozomi wheatgerm (floating) to the pellet mix. Some of the koi preferred it immediately. Others preferred a different floating pellet. Others preferred the sinking pellet in the mix and headed to the bottom. Over a couple of weeks wheatgerm based pellets will become dominant, with all the fish adjusted to them. Gotta get ready for winter, you know.
Cold spell this past week took pond temp all the way down to 68F on Saturday morning at 8am. Brrrrrrrr!
