Like most things wheather associating with a dealer is a good thing - depends on the dealer. If the dealer is way more experienced, trustworthy, and willing to teach it is a great way to go. You can learn a lot from the right dealers.
It is interesting to see at koi shows in the U.S. which dealers hang out together and which keep mostly to themselves with just a few special customers around. Beware of dealers that seem to do most of their business with customers via long distance. I guess the flipside is why don't local koi keepers support this dealer. Also think twice when a dealer bashes all other dealers.
Buying and supporting a few well selected dealers is a good thing if you choose your dealers and breeders wisely.
