Not sure Luke. The wood dust might work but from what I understand at a certain thickness these combinations of very finely ground powdered oxides exposed to 1080 degrees F will be porous as they burn. The manufacture makes these in balls, spheres, rods and sticks. In the finer layered products, they come out like glass - smooth.

I'm going to try a test where water is 'treated' with a large amount of BH for 20 hours. This should, in FIR theory, reduce water clusters from 12-15 down to 5-8 which is also the water that makes organics dissappear. In theory, the small cluster water will boil much faster than 'normal' cluster water. I will do this side by side on same size burners and then independently using a stop watch to determine any differences.
