Test kit questions

Good day all,

I'm a dedicated lurker on this board and I have to say I think I've learned more here than most other boards. I hope someone here can answer my questions.

I have the Aquarium Pharmiceuticals Freshwater Master test kit. It uses 4 glass test tubes and drops to do 4 tests: Ammonia, Nitrate, Nitrite, and pH.

I read somewhere that if you use one of the test tubes for ammonia and then next time use it for one of the other tests, it could mess up the results. Even if you rinse it well. Something about residue left in the tube skewing the next test. Is this true? The instructions don't say anything about it.

Also, there is supposed to be two different types of test kits, don't remember what each is called, but how do you know which one you have? Again, mine doesn't say. I think I read one kind doesn't read correctly after you use ammonia binder in the water.

And lastly, how do you all clean the tubes? At first I was just rinsing them in tap water, but after reading the above info, I've been using dish detergent and rinsing really well. Is this necessary?

Thanks!
