Okay, IMHO this is what I would suggest -
For a 2500 gal pond I would recommend a 40 watt Aqua U.V. unit. However, it would be helpful to know what your main pump(s) and filter(s) are. There would be nothing wrong with sending some of your pumped water through a UV unit, but I can't recommend a setup until I know the above info. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING A SUBMERSIBLE PUMP FOR ANYTHING WITHIN A KOI POND SYSTEM. Too many chances for that kind of pump to have a seal leak or an electrical cord short and that could cause you/your fish to be electricuted and/or put oil into your system.
There is no difference between a sterilizer or clarifier, just simply symantics and what the manufacturer wants you to think your getting. I wouldn't consider it's useage for anything more than for killing the single cell algae that usually turns your water green. You would have to use such a large unit with very low flow to do anything more like kill bacteria.
I do build ponds for a living, so I have some rough ideas about what you'll need. Feel free to PM me if you like
Regards
Mike
