Hi All

Thank you for making me feels so welcome here. The water in SA is hard and soft it depends on the area. Our water is all from boreholes. We have 2 boreholes the big one is 45m deep and deliver 41000l p/h and it supply the mud ponds. There are 27 mud ponds 24 of them have a capacity of 1200000l and then there are 3 that are about 10 million l of water. We are currently busy completing the last one.

The small one is 35m deep and delivers 5000l p/h and it supply the hatchery. The hatchery have 45 cement systems, 4 systems of 45 000l, 17 systems of 12 000l and 24 round work ponds of 2 500l per pond. The work ponds do not have any filtration the rest of the systems have over and under chamber filter systems.

So to summarise we have a combined mud pond water capacity of 58 800 000 l and cement systems water capacity of 444000l.

Our water is soft but very hi in nitrogen due to the depth of the boreholes so we have to air rated it over night be for we could use it.

The 2 new photos are of the hatchery and the 10 mil mud pond that we are completing hopefully to day if it does not rain.

Japanese koi adapt well in SA water but it all depends on your self how well you could maintain the water for them and that go for any koi from any where in the world. I would not say that Japanese koi is that much better then ours have a look at our quality.
