Hi killroy,
There are a number of Bentonite clays on the market today. these clays work well in inproving water quality. montmorilenite or Bentonite clays are one and the same. These clays function on the principle of adsorption through Ionic Bonding. The clay encapsulates organic molecules, trapping them in the platelets of the clay through this attraction. I am a firm believer in these clays and use them once a week. Perhaps this will give you a better and less expensive way to go. Any question a new hobbyist asks should be taken with the intent to help lest we forget how we all started in this hobby.
