| Both Phyllis and PAm (especially pam) think size matters
Once again, SIZE is the biggest thing concerning what a GC should be...now this can be somewhat understood as this was a breeder dealer show (I think?).
But instead of the dog chasing its tail...why can't the powers that be STOP and THINK.
breeders breed koi that do have all the right stuff...but size. they can breed all aspects to perfection....a GC SHOULD have most of what can be accomplished that create a work of art and not a genetic giant freak that is very weak in one area....
No Judge should say, "Yeah it has a weak (fill in the blank) but it is SO BIG!"...
I got a friend in a trailer that buys art by how big the painting is. The artwork sucks, but it is BIG....those big paintings never win at Artshows.
So Stop already. Stop chasing the big fish. Breed for the whole package.
Sure yeah I am back on the soap box...but seriously this fish is another example of big fish elitism.
Some organization needs to go out in front of the breeder's band wagon and place a STOP sign at the 1 meter mark.
After one meter, judges should be required to publically recognize that they will not give more credit to a fish larger than one meter. This will get the breeders to work on the Artistic dimensions of the koi and not get them to bring over-sized Couch paintings when portrait paintings are what the contest should be about.
Is someone thinking...Is an organization addressing this?
