| Understanding works in all directions, and is often prevented by cultural preconceptions. Everyone has them. Tolerance is not universally perceived as a virtue. It can be perceived as acceptance of the unacceptable. Valuing diversity is inherently devaluing the "truth" of all the diverse views. It is a conundrum.
