The timer never gets wet; I turn the hose on, set the timer, hang it around my neck, go inside and log on to K-B. When it rings I go outside, turn off the hose and hang the timer up. Even has a magnet on the back so it sticks to the freeze.
Oh, the ring is not only loud, it's continuous -- until turned off. And since it's hanging around my neck, both my wife and I are reminded that water's running. (Always helps to have a backup plan, ya know.
