This is the three weeks of the year when one group of my koi ponds get a little scattered sun. One of these ponds even has a green tint! [Note: I'm easily entertained] The area where these ponds are is dominated/owned by a huge monkey pod tree. All the leaves and pods (Fabaceae, legume family) have finally fallen and the new leaves have not yet covered the canopy. By May, it will be dark again.

To my way of thinking, the more natural productivity (pond biota) there is, the better koi look and grow. I'm sure these ponds would benefit from more sun. I like full blazing sun for fry and juveniles and about 50% shade for tosai and older.
