the eye can rest on a few inches of any surface...if the koi is a few inches long we see the whole koi all at once...on a big koi we see the pattern as one only if the distance between the interesting aspects is not too far apart....the space between becomes open and boring, with.......................... little ......................................bits ....................of................... interest here
