Growing koi with Bakki Showers

Hi Guys

I would like to share the development of my koi over this growing season Oct 05 to Apr 06. Its the start of winter here in australia. I moved from Perth in western australia before the growing the season to sydney NSW. When I moved I brought along 8 of my favourite koi. These koi were kept in various temp ponds as I was only at a temporary residence.

They were in a 4000L above ground pond in Oct and Nov

10,000L above ground pond in Dec

1000L above ground pond in Jan

6000L above ground pond in Feb, Mar and Apr (water temp ave was 17 degrees)

All ponds used bakki showers. The final 6 ton pond (3m long 2.2m wide and 1m high), used 2 sets of 3 tier showers with 130kg of bacteria house. Water fed by a 15000L submersible and a 18000L skimmer pump. Estimate flow after pipe friction and fittings etc was around 26000L/hr. 3 hi blow 80s were also used to provide more water movement.

This is a pic of Koi B (from my website) 21cm in July, in Oct was 24cm (no pic)

In late february, early march (it was sold), 45cm

This sanke was 14cm In Oct

Now 40cm

Koi C was 17cm in this pic and 21 cm in Oct 05

Now she 48.5cm, this koi is 16 months old and only had 1 and a half growing season (some koi maybe 18 months and have had 2 full growing season)

This koi has only grown 4cm age unknown, male, will be used as a breeder later

Chagoi 48cm

Now 57cm

Kohaku 42cm

Now 52cm

This koi was 54cm in Oct (no pic lost in hard drive crash) now 63cm

The last koi had grown from 25cm to 42cm.

Hope you enjoyed the pics
