Best time to do that is before thanks giving/Xmas, when Charities need all the fund they can gather, and koi purists coming back from Japan with new catches. The club can either buy koi for the auction, or ask local dealers to donate koi to the auction. You will need to connect properly with the targeted charity that winner of acution pay directly to the charity, to get the tax benifit.
don't do food drive, too much work and you will need a place to store them. Money is always better.
