| Lesson 2 Lesson 2: Learning the First 5 Characters of the hiragana. The first Japanese characters we will learn are the VOWELS; these are the Vowels that I Mentioned Earlier in Lesson 1. Remember how they are pronounced. A: あ I: い U: う E: え O: お Please memorize these correctly, and please practice writing them. Here is how I am going to Incorporate the Japanese characters in the words that we will be learning. I am going to continue writing the Japanese in English but as new characters come up, I will be replacing the vowel/consonant with the newly introduced Hiragana character. This may be confusing but you will understand later in future lessons. Note: when there is a double character in this instance いいえ, one just stretches the sound, so since い, is the “I” vowel, you stretch the sound ee, to do iie- (EE-EH) あい- Blue, Love いいえ- No いえ- House え- Picture おい- Hey |
