Thanks Steve and Mike,
My new pond w/5yr old media has been handling the ammonia just fine, however because of the colder temps the nitrite conversion is slow to nil. This follows what has been my experience over the yrs i.e. that the nitrite bac is much more cold sensitive and is the first to go dormant, when subjected to the cold, and last to recover, when temps increase.
So in your formula, a salt meter that reads .05%, translates to 50ppm and should protect to 30.30ppm nitrites? Is this correct or is that to many zeros?
Jim
