1. Frank build my pond, too, and he put an adjustable standpipe in the vortex settling tank; it controls the water level. Am sure he did the same for you.
You should adjust it for an approximate 5" gap between top of water and top of wall. I would think that setting it higher could cause problems with jumpers?
2. Increasing the turnover (more gallons per hour) will not increase the water level -- so that's not a function of your pump modifications.
