I believe Sakai Hiroshima has made it good with Big Rose sanke. You can see a few of the nisais in this month auction.
Firstly, what struck me the most is her shiroji. This is the "whitest" I have seen and this morning when feeding my kois, it is more apparent. She really stood out. She has been in Malaysia for a few months, with water temperature around 28 degreeC. the shiroji has maintained its snow white hue.
I have buddies who have kept Big Rose kohakus and the bodies are impressive. This sanke has a nice tail tube at Tosai but I was not so impressed with her head which I fond a little narrow and my concern is that the prominent shoulder might just dwarf the head.
I am quite please that she has developed very proportionately. The head is now broader and the tail tube is really good. My only concern now is the tail. She does not have a big fan like tail. I have a Tsuke Tsuke Rose that has a similar tail and she is very slow growing. At 5years she is only 67cm. Can anyone give some insight to this?
I must add that while I was initially attracted by the koi, I needed much assurance that I am making a wise decision. So I wud like to thank Dr Teh (dtbh) for his input. Now, it is left to see if I am a good enuf koi keeper to grow out her potential. My kois are now in my newly rebuilt pond. I attach a night scene of the pond which is 28ftX11Ft and 4 to 5.5feet deep. |
