| In March 2005 the ZNA Southern Koi Association made a group purchase of Maruyama 10" +/- tosai Kohaku. A couple turned out quite well. What stood out to me was the variability of Hi quality and type, and variability in growth. There were at least three different types of Hi in a batch of over 20 tosai. One of our members got one that has grown moderately, has excellent Beni and has cleaned up on best in size awards at several shows. I was not as fortunate on the quality scale, but got a female who has grown fast and large. She is now around 28", and still growing. I am expecting her to challenge for largest in my pond by October. Right now she is just 4" shorter. She developed a couple of shimmies, which have now expanded to the point that she would likely be benched as a Sanke... a poor Sanke. LOL. Enjoy the Maruyama. |
