Our local club is more truly a watergarden club, in fact most of the folks I know around here that are a little nuts about their koi aren't even in the club. That has meant that koi talk stays out of the club and pond talk is almost all of what is "in" the club.

Well our meeting last Saturday was a little wild. Held at the home of a watergarden builder and maintainer it soon became apparent that he was massaging some of his customer flock with what he was demonstrating about building and maintaining a pond. Being myself , I was the first of many to holler "Bullshit!"in regards to cleaning an above ground, pump fed, upflow, layered mat waterfall with plants on top of it...YEARLY. In spring, yet. But the water stays clear.

Oh, it was a fun meeting. And for the first time I disliked our club. Disliked our club members, who were much louder than me, who wanted to put down all the complicated valve stuff and the unneccesary bother with cleaning everything. Reverse snobbery is a much stronger force than snobbery and kichiness.

Only two new members showed up with problems in their rock ponds.

So things haven't progressed far enough to have "club politics" yet.
