| Maybe it's just me....but a growout contest isnt much of a contest if the fish's owner has nothing to do with actually growing the fish. The growout I just participated in ran for a 12 month period. The fish were grown by the owners and brought together at the Southern Koi Expo for judging. There were three prizes......grand champion (best overall fish of the day), best tategoi (fish with most future potential) and most growth. I have seen other growouts where the fish were judged on most-growth only. In all cases that I have seen though, a growout contest is really about which fish owner does the best job raising their own fish. |
