Hi Mike. It was always troubling to me that BH was promoted as turning organics into 'nothingness'. It just wasn't local. You could aerate organics, you could trap them and you could keep them isolated from the pond with 'zones of air/atmosphere' between trays. But nothingness? I could not accept that. So I decided to place some BH in a submerged filter ( sump of a 180 gallon aquarium full of fancy goldfish. This is the result after 40 days.
