When we talk of detracting, we are normally speaking in comparison to other koi.....or thus in competition. But, competition is based on the koi competing. That being said, I am not sure what the competition is like in Australia. Is it the norma to have less pronounced matsuba scalation in your competitions? If so then it would be no big deal. In other areas it in fact could be a big deal if the scalation is more pronounced as a norm.
