in time, they will follow your foot steps with mouth open wide. by that time, you will have tough time resist the temptation of throwing a few more pellets to feed them even they've already ate a bunch.

anyhow, to answer your question. this is quite normal.

I had a tosai that took almost 3 months to join in with the rest when feeding.
