Actually, Steve...
Lithaqua is pure CaCO3, that desolves very slowly when the nitrosomonas (sp??) bacteria excrete carbonic acid (that lowers pH) after consuming the lovely ammonia that our Koi expell mostly through respiration. This product buffers the H20 and when used at the correct quantity keeps the carbonate level stable and high enough to keep nitrifying bacteria count high, and the pH level neutral. I have a spec sheet on it somewhere...I''ll look for it
