Agreed but size 3-5 are more of a middle ground where a male koi could pull off the correct conformation.

I was looking for input as to which would be able to be more maintainable and attainable if you wanted to compete in these sizes. I had kept mixed pond before, and after the spawning incedents this last year never again. I have a few that are still growing scales back. So while I have consigned myself to females. I beleive that this is the size range most serious koi keepers could compete given and average set of means. So I if a keeper was going to keep only one sex and want to compete in this size range which would be suggested. While keeping in mind that if the keepers was spending 3 and 4 digits on a koi they would want to keep them for a few years.
