It is regularly recommended to read the ingredients label on koi food when making a selection. This advice assumes confidence in the labeling. Errors occur in even the best operated facilities. The best catch the errors and do not release the non-conforming product. Not all facilities are operated in accordance with best management practices. Confidence in the label requires confidence in the maker. Since we do not get easy access to inspection data, reputation for quality and reliability is of overriding importance. Events over the past few years have taught that USDA/FDA inspections of human foods are not fully reliable. That should teach us that inspections of animal feeds are not a basis to assume anything much.
