This morning the outside temp is 36f and the water is 63.3f (set at 65f w/+ or minus setting of 3 degrees). The koi love it. For the cost of a good show quality nisai kohaku from japan, you can regulate your pond temp and help protect your prize koi.
It is a great heater wish I could afford one . Karl had it set up heating his outdoor pond . It was the most beautiful sight to be seen as in the pond where just 3 fish all jumbo Kohaku .
I ended up insulating my cemment pond and putting in cemment heating coils and a used oil fired hot water tank so the whole system only cost me $ 800
since then the oil prices have trippled . So might change to an Electric hot water tank if they implement a system of lower cost billing in low usage times
