luke, I have been to a few of those myself. But in both cases it was a panel composed of japanese judges with the best interpreter in the world ( Joel Burkhardt) and the mentality of the audience from the hosting club.Naturally it was packed with every newbee. bring the same judges back now to that crowd and with the advancement the club has made would be a different
situation.
I think the difference here is the caliber of the attendees, who have long passed the oscar goldfish stage and are serious about filling in the more difficult edges of their knowledge. As had been suggested, i think the concept of advanced questions selected prior to the event yet provided by attendees is the best way to go......
