Hello everybody,

For the past 2 days, somehow I have been denied access to Koi-Bito Forum. Every time I tried to enter this forum, there was a box stating that I was not 'authorised to view' it! I also tried to send e-mail to enquire but I only received 'failure' notice.

Maybe Brian can explain why? Today, suddenly everything seems to be ok again.

Kiky and all:

we were the victim of a hacking attempt, and my hosting company very
wisely chose to lock down the server until they could close the hole that allowed the hacker in.

No data was compromised, but it was a serious and sustained attack. The fact that I was down in Okayama at the time only served to prolong getting everything back on line again.

Apologies from me personally for the inconvenience.

A repeated hacking attempt on a koi board! Strange. Guess you did not know how valuable your trade secrets are, Brian.
There are some boards with a few high-emotion posters who become embroiled in conflict. I can understand that when one of those experiences a hacker problem it could be related to the feuding. This is such a courteous board, I cannot imagine any reason someone would want to cause it grief. I think I will assume it was overly mischievous kids having fun and just hope that their energy is expended elsewhere.

Whew! I thought I must have offended someone and was banned. Paranoid personality.

Common Steve, how likely is that. I know you make it a habit of constantly flaming us all (NOT).
I assumed it was the server. I guess Hackers have lots of time on their hands and little to do. Most likely S. Korean. Largest # of hackers in single country at this point.

This is a crazy world isn't it? I simply cannot imagine how on earth would someone hack a board like this forum.

What a relieve that now it's over. Hope no one will try to do this kind of thing again in the future.

Kiki, hackers are always out there and always will be. The only system that can't be hacked from the outside is one that is stand-alone i.e. not hooked up to the net. For these guys it is a matter of getting in, it is a matter of getting in and out and not being detected. Any H4ckz0r worth his salt can get on your computer if he doesn't mind being detected.

Yeah Scott, I understand that there are 'one thousand and one' kinds of people. For every good guy, there is a bad guy to complement each other. But never mind, because otherwise the world will not be so colourful, right?
