BKKS 13th Annual Ireland Koi Show

Northern Ireland (4th & 5th June 2005) – The Ireland BKKS (British Koi Keeping Society) is pleased to announce the 13th Annual Koi show at Coleman’s Nursery, Templepatrick on Saturday and Sunday 4th – 5th June. This annual event brings together a feast of Koi keepers all in the one place with specialists in various fields who are available to give help and advice on all aspects of the hobby.

But the show is not just for the serious Koi keepers, it is open to anyone interested in these fascinating fish. Originating from Japan these delightful Koi (or nishikoi to give them their full title) are a pleasure to see and come in numerous colour combinations, varieties and off course sizes.

This year there will be around 20 vats, which include displays from club members, who will be happy to discuss their ponds and fish and any aspect of the hobby. The highlight for club members will be the competition, where members can show fish in one or several of 13 classes from Best Baby Champion to Best Jumbo Champion. There will be an army of both local and National BKKS Judges and the results and prizes will be announced on the last day of the show.

There will also be a selection of dealers at the show so visitors may even go home with one or two fishy bargains.

Entrance is free, so whether you are new to the delights of koi or more a seasoned keeper, or simply fancy a good day out you are sure to find something of interest and certainly plenty to chat about. For anyone interested in becoming a member of the Ireland section, and there are currently over 45 members, they should speak to the club members at the show or see the club site for details. The BKKS Ireland section is open to members throughout Ireland, monthly club nights and regular events and activities are held through the year and individual and family memberships are available.
