Hi Nancy,
here in Jakarta we always had between 800-1000 entries per show. The last All Indonesian Show in Dec. 2006 had 1041 entries. Even we have very high entry fees (between 20-150 USD per fish) people here like to participate. We had entries from 9 countries (Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Hongkong, Brunei, Scotland, Austria, Germany). The Indonesian entries mainly come from the Java Island which stretches about 1500 km from west to east. But there were also participants from Sulawesi Island. These people still had their fishes at their Jakarta dealers and participated the show before they get their koi delivered. We also do a lot for the entertainment. There was a lucky draw with prizes such as shopping vouchers, 14"-21" TV's, DVD players and 2 small motorbikes. The award ceremony was held by local celebs who also did a small show inbetween. I think this concept works well and people like to join again. BTW, we have around 3-4 major shows per year plus smaller area shows.
