During the month of February there will be a special auction of Japanese Koi donated by Carl Forss of Keirin Koi. These include a beautiful show quality 23” Female Shiro Utsuri, a 23” Show Quality Gin Rin Matsukawabake (not sure of sex) and a nice Tancho Showa that is 19” male. Pictures of the fish will be posted on the Website Dkk Web, by February 10th, as well as the current bid for the fish. To bid go to the website. The link is on the home page. Fish must be picked up before March 1 any remaining fish will be brought to the wet lab for final auction.

NOTE: This is the first of a series of educational opportunities for DKK members. End of March in San Antonio there is a hands-on opportunity to learn how choose and buy small fish. Just for fun there is a fish competition where you get to be the judge. The breeder will then judge and you can see how close your choices are to his. Last year this competition was won by a 12 year old that had never done this before!

In May we will compare and contrast different kinds of filtration. Whether you are building a pond or looking to retrofit this will be a valuable opportunity to see all the options.

June is the annual Koi Show in Frisco Square. There will seminars throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday the Judges will do tank side talks about the winners of the koi show focusing on the qualities of the fish and why they won. These are qualities you can look for in selecting your fish whether you wish to show or not..
