Don't you just love your fish?

Sitting and watching them in the twilight, swimming slowly and magesticly in the cool water. Aren't they wonderful with the winter sheen on them, and fine, full bodies, of the summer of good food you were happy to feed them?

And the colors of the gosanke, come to full fruition. The snow white, the incandescent blaze of the hi, the long, black winter night of sumi. As all the forces of nature come round at the return of the light, the winter solstice approaches, as you sit by the pond and one white star appears.

This is what its about. The koi show in your pond, every morning, afternoon, and especially, evening.

Hi Melisssa,

Wow...that was almost poetic. Your words certainly captured the feelings that surge through peoples hearts and minds on a daliy basis with regards to their koi.

Very well said!

Errr.....I must have taken the wrong turn somewhere. My kois are far from what you so beautifully described.

However, I am VERY happy(not content, but happy) with my private koi show.

One white star

Brian, I see that your location identifier includes "land of the rising sun". Could you give SMG a similar note? I think a "lone white star" fits nicely with Texas, the lone star state ...... of course, only if she wants it.

Wish I'd gotten home before dark tonight.

A Lone White Star

With apologies to our resident poetess ....

A lone white star appears.

It sparkles in the growing blackness.

The cold creeps into your bones and skin.

You want to escape the ache and chill,

but are frozen by their slow movements.

Then vision goes; starlight guides you home

to a deep armed chair and brandy,

wishing for long warm summer evenings

and more hours of quiet communion.

“Sitting and watching kois in the twilight” is at the top of my “ Oh! What a feeling ! ” list together with looking at my children sleeping in their beds before turning the light off, running through sprinklers, seeing that there are no lines at the supermarket and tasting the last draw from my favorite cigar in the cold night ( ops: Ya! I know that thing will kill me and I am bad.).
