Nexus D outlet grill

Has anybody installed the D outlet grill. Did it reduce the flow rate? Can the D grill be installed without the half grill ?[/quote]

I would drop Ian Miles or Mike Shaw a line at EA.

I have looked the conversion kit and don't see a problem with dropping in the D screen from the static conversion kit. I think you will get as much resistance from the K1 piling up behind the D screen than you will the screen itself.

I have not converted my first Nexus to static K1 yet. I will do so when I move it to the new pond in the spring. The new Nexus has the kit already installed but I won't use it until I launch the new pond. So practical experience to give ...yet.

Mike will definitely help you if he can.

I was thinking of using just the D grill and filling the area with brushes or Bacteria House.

Bill,

The intent of the static K1 kit is to pile up some K1 above the D grill to mechanically trap the fine particles given off by the moving/fluid K1. To clean the static K1, you turn off the water and air pumps, stir up the static K1 and open a valve (installed between the Nexus output and the water pump) and let that dirty water exit to the drain line.

I am not so sure how you will stir up bacteria house (each the size of a small loaf of bread) without damaging them. That sounds like a pain. Brushes are probably OK and easier to clean. But I don't see then trapping much.
