opinions / comments on " filter Farm "

any thing can be done to try to keep water clear some even work where this one will be in a year remains to be seen. Not my work but concerned interestfor the ownere and the fish area of filter farm 625 sq ft best guese 20,00 gal pond moderate stock rate no supplimental airation just 10,000 gph waterfall. can't see em but there are two pumps in the farm area.http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/mik...m=DSCN0215.jpg

Not too sure how those work. Seems to be a good deal of settlement area (although for that many gallons a lot is needed!) .... and nice sized UV (I think?), but I'm not seeing much media for biofiltration. I'd also be concerned regarding purging those, since they look flat-bottomed and seem to have a good bit of sediment. Having them exposed to full sun will also gunk up the media with algae. It is reminescent in concept to the DIY filters Florida Aqua Gardens used on their tosai holding tanks years back when they were in Apopka, Fl area. They used much more media. It worked for their purpose.

filters

Problem I noticed in this application was the poor fit of media to the shape of the container. as the media traps material I feal the water will go to least resistance and skirt around the media. material was a mat type not j mat but white polyester additional bio media surface was added with bags of spun down pvc pipe for surface area. Could you imagine the bakki setup that you could have in 625 square feet? even with a prefilter set to the bakki you would still save space!
