Gas heating in a box

This may be old hat to you Yanks, but it was a revelation to me and many other Brits.

I found this advert in this months OKWS newsletter. American ingenuity at its best.

Hi Bern,
Actually I think the idea originated in Switzerland(?) for the home radiant heating business.
These units have been sold to go under the pond as well. I only know of people who use the coils in the settlement chambers or ponds but it can be used as a relatively inexpensive and easy way of heating. It is a closed system so nothing bad gets in the pond.
They usually have a booth at MAKC''s show.

Hi Folks,

These kind of "circulation coils" have been used by people over here, including breeders for quite some time now. The unit as a whole doesn't usually look as tidy as the spec sheet that Bern posted though.

Hi,

The heat exchange elements isn't the issue, that's old hat here too.

It's the 'ready to go' box with everything pre-installed for hook up.

Marvellous.

Convenience has its price. I think the cost for the ready go to box is in the $2,000 range. You can build a comparible system at home with a stainless heat exchanger for the $1,200 range.

It is nice to have choices!

Thanks Mike,

I have to say I was dubious when I saw no price in the advert.

It's still a very neat idea, but not $800 worth.
