| Koi Judge Joke It was the 21st South East Section Koi show and as usual a contingent of Dutch Koi Keepers were visiting, amongst them a trainee judge.
The judges at the show were some of the most renowned in the business coming from the UK, USA, Africa, Europe and the Far East. The young tyro from the Netherlands watched them preparing for the show in awe, hoping that one day he'd get the opportunity of joining them.
Then, he is approached by his Voorzitter (Chairman/President) and told that an unexpected vacancy has occurred in the judging team and he is being asked to fill it. Overjoyed and still in a state of shock he joins his allocated team.
In a lull between round one and two he asks one of his team "How come there was a vacancy".
Sombrely, the man replies. "It was my wife, she was booked to judge this show and sadly she died last week." He added, "This is the first time I have judged a show without her for 10 years".
"Couldn't the BKKS find a substitute?" asked the trainee.
"No, nobody was available" replied the judge "They are all at the funeral".
