Ditto.
Brian, I truly want you energized creatively, not demoralized ... because I want to see what you do with another breeder, & another .... and 15 years from now we will have a treasury far more valuable to the hobby than any profit to be made on an internet auction. Imagine if we could view such a video of the great breeders of the past ... what we would learn and appreciate about what koi have become. Your Momotaro DVD was wonderful. But, it will be the long term project that creates an archive for future hobbyists.
Reality is that there will always be a market for worthwhile things. I buy old japanese koi mags. I thank the folks who sell them to me. If I was not a K-B subscriber, I'd probably bid more than the subscription price to get a full set and the DVD, and I'd be happy somebody parted with them. This instance is different, because you provided the DVDs to get them to readers not on your mailing list. The recipient did not do as agreed, whether that agreement was explicit or implicit. It's water over the dam. You can decline future business with that person. Moving on, look at what you have learned. There is a market for such DVDs. Maybe not a huge one, but I'd bet the incremental cost of making copies is comparatively small once a run is being done anyway. The extra copies could be made available (while supplies last) to new subscribers at a reasonable price as a premium, helping you recoup your costs and making subscriptions an even better deal. ... or sell on a stand alone basis thru ads in koi mags. Or, you can just chalk it up to another day on planet Earth.
Whatever you do, the important thing is to not let your accomplishment become limited because somebody had low standards. The b*****ds will bring you down, but only if you let them.
