Hi Dan,

No it's not mine. (I wish) I found the pic on a website some years ago and use it in a 'koi varieties' talk I give to koi clubs.

Bern, I think the plot thickens! If you look at the lineage and breeding scheme of the karasugoi you see that it is very likely that there is an inbetween possibility on many of these varieties.
On another subject, have you ever hear of a variety known as Hyakunen sakura?

Yeah, I remembered it was Hikarimoyo (BKKS) but couldn't remember any more than that so I had to look it up.

A Kikisui with Platinum dorsal scales.

Have you got a picture?

Hi Bern, some where! I need to hire a full time librarian at this point! I have been working on a master index on text from a few dozen publications for three years now! You think following koi badges of the world is a challenge?!!!!
I have mostly all the Rinko, Nichirin and NI indexed for subject. And all ZNA home office info on committee standards and judging criteria done- but that is only the tip of the iceberg!
I have cross indexed all ZNA and breeder articles including some Japanese language publications with western scientic literature explaining the intuitive observations of gifted breeders, local Japanese dealers and Japanese hobbyists in terms of the hard science. Its a super cross confirmation of facts and folklore.
God help me , I love this stuff!
Picures all indexed ? Maybe in the next life time! JR

there is one 'ginrin matsukawabake' on sale on the internet.

I don't know if it fits the bill. The website is www.genkikoi.com, under koi for sale.

I will try to attach a photo.

Stan - thanks for the photo. It's listed on the site as a gin rin matsukawabake. This can really get confusing.
JR - this appears more like a complete reticulation or close to it - more like the photo Bern put up of the suminagashi. Even the photo you posted appears by definition more suminagashi than matasukawabake if more sumi were to come up on the dorsal area.
Most matsukawabakes I've seen, especially tosai and nisai, tend to be either 80 - 90% solid black with little white showing as the following photo depicts (2 koi center of photo). Hey Dick - here's you offspring again.

Hi Jim,

I've got something like that too. It's called a memory LOL!

It works fine (sometimes).
