Jason,

Thanks for the compliment! This issue was supposed to be the All-Japan issue, but we all know what happened to that show this year. In it's place, the Meiriten was held, and I made the decision to cover it just as I had planned to cover the All-Japan by publishing all the koi that were entered.

For next year's All-Japan, I plan to publish all the winners, which while not being all the koi entered in the show, will still take up a similar amount of space.

You'll note that this issue is the thickest one ever, and that it wasn't half advertisements. We do plan to seek more sponsorship for the magazine, but will always try and balance it with in-depth material instead of just recycling old articles in order to have something to balance the adverts out.

I'm sure that you'll all enjoy both issues #8 and 9.

I cannot thank you enough Brian for Tatsuo Ozawa's article. I have subscribed to various magazines all my koi life in hopes of getting information like this.

For those of you struggling to get thru japanese words referred to in the article....hang in there. It's important you learn them, so please don't get discouraged.

I also want to take time to thank the advertisers who support Brian's effort. To Maeda-San, Mike Snaden, Carl @ Keirin, ken @ Eastern and the folks at JPD AMERICA. I hope all of the readers will make an effort where possible to support them and let them know that their support for this magazine is appreciated!

and to those who wondered who those "foreigners" were in the photo on page 61, That's Joel and Zak from Pan Intercorp. Hey! they should have an ad in here!
