I THINK I see more sumi coming up on the head..
The fish is too young for that much sumi.
I'm ona them ole farts that doesn't expect much sumi on showa, or utsuri, until sansai...
Often it bites me on the differential !
When it doesn't.. I wind up with a killer fish.

My choices are #3, then 6.

Isa's koi tend to grow long and fill in later.


they tend to get deep but not so barrel chested for the first several years.

Interesting! Are Showas flavour of the month?!
Some Maruyama elsewhere.
Here a replay of past Isa Showa.
I go for Showa 2, 6 and 5.

Out of the lot at this size koi #4 does it for me also. the rest are to heavy in sumi.
