Bump!

Luke, old buddy old pal!

I think I have Quality Koi's pumping system figured out.

Any updates on your pump?

Bancherd,
thank you for digging this up. I am at this time trying to get the lake stuccoed before Daily Summer thunderstorms halt work on the pond till NEXT autumn, and do not have the energy nor time to play with these pumps right now.
my thoughts though.
I may consruct some small (.33 HP) propeller pumps for the Lake. I'll shoot for the moon...30,000gph to a 2 ft head and be happy with 20,000gph.
However these ice eaters maybe the way to go as well. Right now I like TT's too much to not run one So I need at least a foot of head.
I may put an ice eater .5 HP in the pond and run it for a couple of 2hr cycles to exercise the koi and clean the pond bottom...as well as making an "eternal swimming pond "for my wife and I...daydreams...let me get the lake stuccoed.

Sorry guys, I was off the air for a couple of days.

Please do a search for Aqua-Manna Inc. Multifunctional Pump. The company's website does not tell much, but if you dig around, you can see a pump without the shroud. Verbal description of the pump is in a pdf-file "Commercial Application of a Low Head Design" by Blythe et. al.

You can also see a diagram of protein-skimmer without using external air-source in figure 2 page 144 of another pdf-file. Just search for "Recirculating Aquaculture Systems in Korea" by In-Bae Kim and Jae-Yoon Jo.

Let me know what you think.

The ice-eater is nice since the propeller is matched to the tube and motor, IF only the motor were non-submerged.
